Preconditions:

• download Malibu from the App-Store

1. go to Layout / Design > Template Settings >> Category menu
2. activate Show horizontal category navigation in the header, Show vertical category navigation in the sidebar, Click on category unfolds subcategory, Show only subcategories of the current category is then disabled by default
3. go to the frontend
4. with the developer console switch to a mobile view, or simply drag the browser window very slim until the burger menu appears
5. click on the burger menu

result:

• it seems that the mobile categories and also the desktop categories both get displayed, see screenshot
