To see the current behaviour, do the following:
Preconditions:
Have a category with several subcategories in it ready
1. go to Layout /Design > Template Settings >> Category Menu
2. activate 'Show vertical category navigation in the sidebar' and 'Show only subcategories of the current category', hit save
3. go to frontend, open the category, open a subcategory
result:
* the opened subcategory is shown on the same level as it's sister-subcategories
* the old behaviour was, if you open a subcategory, only the contents of that subcategory (i.e. sub-subcategories) are shown
* that means, if there are no further sub-subcategories, nothing is shown in the vertical navigation, actually the whole vertical navigation disappears
* this behaviour is wanted by some customers, so we should make that behaviour configurable <-- TASK
